Observation notes: Brett said this could be near the late season record? Acted like a male patrolling the same area, would land with wings spread then quickly close them. High 80's in sunny narrow canyon. Other butterfly's seen in Borrego Desert this trip, Wrights Metal mark, Sleepy orange, Orange sulphur, Orange skipperling, northern white, white checkered skipper, Juba, Monarch, queen, Great Purple, Painted lady, Leda Mini streak, M, crescent, cloudless sulphur, Pygmy blue acmon blue. And for the first time we saw a Purplish Copper that was very fresh. Very strange as the only host that i'm aware of near there is in the laguna mountains many miles away the way the crow flies.
