Coordinator notes: Steve...got the note from Nick on the cybele samples...interesting one of the syntypes is a match but the LT is not. Evidence that Edwards was careless with his specimens handling. You wonder if the matching syntype can be redesignated and the other disregarded/removed? The current LT was designated by dosPassos and Grey in 1947...not their fault since Holland was the one who designated and according to Brown (Types of the Nymphalid Butterflies Described by...Edwards, Part 1: Argynninae, 1965, p. 240) "correctly called types the two specimens that he figured." Looked to me like in the tree, neomexicana is not much different than the Sangre de Cristo cybele samples but I admit...I don't know how to read these very well. Can you get cybele on the eastern side of the Jemez? Have you gotten it at Pajarito Ski Area where electa is common? Nick seems to think this is a missing link? Mike
