Observation notes: The day was mostly sunny. I don't know what the temperature was. I spotted this butterfly resting in the leaf debris in my west facing shrub bed. Plants nearby include a number of natives - Quercus x undulata, Liatris punctata, Asclepias tuberosa, and Manzanita.

Coordinator notes: Very late date for the West Coast Lady (or Western Painted Lady)...almost eclipsed my record from 1966 (on 11/19...I was 16 at the time so you know how old I am now!). Mine was in southeast Denver where I grew up. Mike
