Observation notes: On the grounds of Macaw Lodge, Carara National Park, Costa Rica. Note that I've seen this species in only two locations so far; here and at my house in the Central Valley town of Atenas, Alajuela Province. The Carara Park is in Puntarenas Province, though the lodge is just barely over the province line in San Jose Province on the mountain south of the park.

Coordinator notes: There are two sub-species of this butterfly and I think this one is the "darkened" version or "Typhedanus cajeta eluina, Darkened Yellow-haired Skipper."
