Coordinator notes: Where is your geographic location? I can't tell by a dot on the map. What was the elevation, habitat? Foothill Woodland or Transition Zone Forest. It is either Euphydryas chalcedona sierra or Euphydryas editha rubicunda. An actual locality of a city or well known place in the forest would likely tell me. It is unlikely both species would occur at a single place. Both are in Mariposa County...Ken Davenport Based on the date, I think it likely you have the lower elevation Edith's Checkerspot.
