Observation notes: The moth was near the ground in the grass by my concrete back deck, and later flew up on some firewood on the deck. It was quite passive as it allowed me to put the camera up close to it. It was a warm morning, partly cloudy, 19 % C.

Coordinator notes: There are two species of genus Xestia that are identical in appearance. The difference can be relative to size but in photos it is difficult to measure accurately.
