Observation notes: Yes that is what they are called Ambush Bug's on the California Buckwheat, Yes Ken D. Helps us find lots of things also showed me Yucca Giant skippers for the Lifer up Kern County. He is a Kind man with a Huge heart. We Hunted up there for two days also got a lifer common sootywing that is now full species status. Beautiful area lots of stuff to see. I hear that the back road into that country is really rugged so you must of had a good ride. The regal photo's that you posted are really wonderful. I will look at your Diana frit too.

Coordinator notes: This is a male of subspecies Lycaena rubidus sirius, one of my fav Coppers. Yes that east desert approach into the southern Sierra in Tulare County was in a small 5-speed Toyota Corolla, can't believe we weren't worried we'd get stranded. But I was much younger, didn't have cell phones - we were crazily determined! Thanks, JAMES STEEN
