Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: On mud at the side of a small pond. I am convinced this is a Phaon because it doesn't have the dark basal coloration of a Field Crescent and instead has dark-bordered mottled bands. It also has wide orange spots on the submarginal upper forewing as shown in Glassberg. Cool to catch this in a new location! I see from Butterflies of New Mexico that this is now considered a Jalapeño Crescent?

Coordinator notes: great ID, Kelly. BONM calls this Jalapeno Crescent, but BAMONA is still going with its old name, Phaon.
