Scudder's Sulphur
Colias scudderi

Observation date: September 02, 2024
Submitted by: Cascade Colors
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I am assuming the three photos are all the same species; the 1st photo is a different individual from the 2nd/3rd, and the 2nd/3rd doesn't seem to be a "dirty green" that the Scudder's is supposed to be.
Status: Resident

Coordinator notes: The first photo is an albino female Orange Sulphur (based on size and shape of the forewings)...I used the sighting to verify the other two which are Scudder's Sulphur primarily because the second photo is a female...the yellow form of scudderi and relatively rare...maybe 10-20% of female scudderi are yellow (named form flavotincta). Very nice! Mike
