Observation notes: I was out fishing in the Charles Rogers Preserve in Princeton, NJ. I was along the “Blue Trail” which runs adjacent to Stony Brook. I was hoping this caterpillar was a Monarch caterpillar as it was a long caterpillar . I was very careful when fishing not to disturb it and I moved out of its area shortly thereafter. It was a hot morning and the caterpillar was eating vegetation that was clearly being eaten by others. It was right on the bank!
