Observation notes: I happened upon this dying caterpillar very near the curb on a little-traveled road that runs between many acres of mixed meadow and wooded land. Clear, shallow creekwater runs throughout this land, and relatively few people are active in it - none live there. The sky was overcast when I saw this caterpillar, and the temp was about 85 degrees. The area immediately around this caterpillar was wooded.

Coordinator notes: Definitely Anisota, but it's really difficult to tell some of these caterpillars apart. I think this is just as likely to be A. senatoria as A. peigleri; both are found in Roane County. I'm going to have to leave this ID at the genus level. Thanks for submitting this. JRains
