Bronze Copper
Lycaena hyllus

Observation date: August 23, 2023
Submitted by: jofritz
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: None.
Status: Resident
Verified by: jmgesell
Verified date: January 01, 2025
Coordinator notes: Female, which can look a lot alike an American Copper. The two species can be differentiated by the bold central FW spot near the inner margin, which is not present on an American Copper. The male Bronze Copper is more easily IDed by its classic dorsal coloration. Ventrally, the two species (no matter the sex) have classic characteristics that can be easily separated. -Jeff Gesell
