Canadian Tiger Swallowtail
Papilio canadensis

Observation date: June 20, 2024
Submitted by: ellenjones6
Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: I am going with Canadian TIger Swallowtail for several reasons. First, the two black lines form a wide letter U. Second, it's flying on 20 June and it's rather beat-up, which would suggest it was part of an early flight which is winding down. Third, this is a rather small swallowtail. So, I don't think this is the intermediate form.

Coordinator notes: Agree with your points. Also, dark band along the HW anal margin is thickened, extending almost inward to the first vein, also classic for the species. - Jeff Gesell
