Coordinator notes: Are you sure you didn't get the date of the photos wrong, or possibly forgot where they were taken? It's highly unlikely (pretty much impossible) to see two different deep south species - that don't like to wander - in your yard on Long Island on the exact same day (also referring to the Zebra Heliconian sighting). Very fresh in appearance, too. You can easily see these two species in the same day in a location such as Florida. If you did happen to get super lucky to attract these two species, they most certainly came from an accidental release from a nearby butterfly exhibit. I found that the nearby Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead has a butterfly exhibit, and it was present in 2018. If you have any further information about the sighting, I'd love to hear about it! jmgesell@gmail.com
