Observation notes: Flying poorly and landing on snow banks. Very unusual to find any butterfly in January in Los Alamos. Temp was in the high 40s though it has been below freezing the past 4 days.

Coordinator notes: unusual indeed! but you are correct in your ID. definitely a Question Mark. they overwinter as adults and can be found flying on warm mid-winter days. the date of your sighting beats our prior early date (statewide) by about 2 weeks. not often seen in Los Alamos, so a good sighting. great photos, too. thanks for posting to BAMONA!
