Observation notes: Individual fritillary perching low out of the wind and sunning on dark gravel adjacent to the South Alkali Flats Duckpond habitat. Site is at the junction of I-10 and NM-338 within the Animas Valley, Lordsburg Playa, Alkali Flats area. The morning was cool, windy, and under full sun.

Coordinator notes: Jim, what a terrific sighting! and great photos! We have a slim handful of records for NM so this is a great addition to our knowledge, especially the locality details, which been lacking on other sightings.
