Date notes: Flew in from a distance and landed briefly on blooming Cornus Mas as shown. In a minute or so it disappeared at 20 degrees from vertical flight to part unknown.

Observation notes: Flew in from a distance and landed briefly on blooming Cornus Mas as shown. In a minute or so it disappeared out of sight at 20 degrees from vertical flight to parts unknown. Just lately we have seen a few individuals of this moth regularly. Mostly flying erratically at 10-20' elevation. Rarely landing and only just briefly. This is the only one seen briefly feeding. A recent submission from Eugene Oregon indicates they are also now flying ~80 miles south of here.

According to BugGuide.net gratulata has 2 possible English names. See:

Apparently there alternate English Names for this moth? Western White-ribboned vs. Half-white Carpet Moth. Please advise! Thanks.
