Observation notes: I often seem to be a little too hopeful that I've found something interesting. For the NMBMN I'm being rather conservative in my IDs (only noting if I'm 100% sure), but here I may be taking advantage of a knowledgable coordinator and digging in a bit more. I originally labeled this individual as a female Horaces--Large glassy spots, bold forewing patterns--but was looking again this morning and noted the strong presence of gray bordering the dark brown "stripes" on the forewing. Kaufman cites this as a definitive difference between Horace's and Meridian, so even though it's a bit out of range, I'm going to suggest it. I always appreciate your thoughts and feedback.

Coordinator notes: very interesting indeed! I eliminated Horace's based on lack of gray inner edging on FW black areas. then I had the hardest time choosing between Meridian and Mottled, but I think the FW has one large clear spot Mottled lacks, plus Mottled is supposed to have a distinctive DHW postmedian dark band, which also was lacking.
