Ken, the paper I referenced for the CA Dogface on Santa Rosa Island is Scott Miller's 1984/1985 California's Channel Islands Butterflies, Journal of Research on the Lepidoptera, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.

Coordinator notes: Yes, Scott Miller's publication is now outdated. Your Gabb's Checkerspot was also given a subspecies name"atrifasciata Hawks & John Emmel, the type locality is Santa Cruz Island, La Cascada in 1998. Mainland populations are the nominate: Chlosyne gabbii gabbii.-Ken Davenport
