Observation notes: Actias luna, Luna Moth, on under-side of leaf of a host-plant, Sweetgum, Liquidambar styraciflua, app 5 feet above ground. Larva appears to be an early instar stage. This Sweetgum is in a fairly open canopy area beside trail and is a prime tree on which to locate adult King's, Banded, Striped, and Southern Oak Hairstreaks 11:00am-mid afternoon in the first three weeks of May. Males like to perch on this trees leaves to await females flying the trail.
