Observation notes: the butterfly is on California Aster (Corethrogyne filaginifolia). This moth was observed on California Aster (Lessingia filaginifolia var. filaginifolia) in coastal sage scrub at the Claremont College's Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station (http://www.bfs.claremont.edu). These photos were posted to BugGuide (http://bugguide.net/node/view/428463) where the identity of Schinia buta was confirmed by Chuck Hart. He says this is the first note of a possible plant association for this species.
