Observation notes: This butterfly landed on my butterfly bush while I was standing by it looking for ambush bugs. It was a hot sunny day. I have noticed these butterflies flying around but had not seen on up close. I have noticed they fly in pairs but not next to each other. I had only saw one other close up years ago and it was much smaller and tattered. They are quite large and beautiful.
