Coordinator notes: This species seems to have been recorded only from the southeast U.S. but the submitted image is a perfect match for photos of this species on BAMONA, Moth Photographers Group web site, and bug guide. An internet search failed to help find any reference to its occurance in Mexico. However, it is found in Texas and we may just not know the extent of the whole range yet of this very striking moth.
