Observation notes: College student who assists me in yard care, brought this to me yesterday 7/19/13 for id. He believed it to be a moth, but noting the apparent lack of the feathery moth antenna and despite large body size, I thought perhaps a butterfly. Transferred to the side of a stack of bricks, it sat there for several hours through a mild thunderstorm and was not there this AM. Perhaps a spread wing skipper, but my Audubon BF guide shows no such bold B & W pattern.
