Coordinator notes: Coordinator 1: Submitter suggests White-lined Sphinx, I believe it is a Laurel Sphinx; however I never saw the live moth. Coordinator 2: It is not a White-lined Sphinx, the body markings are not of that species. I enlarged the photo and agree with the 1st coordinator that it is a Laurel Sphinx. The body markings are spot-on with this species, and the lighter-colored areas at the base of the forewings help confirm the id as S. kalmiae.
