The Betrothed
Catocala innubens

Observation date: August 06, 2013

Specimen type: Photograph
Observation notes: Saw him (or her!) stuck between main door and screen door. Let inside because it looked so cool I wanted a pic. Quite large, attracted to kitchen lights, pulls wings shut to hide bright colorings underneath. Underside, from what I saw, orange/light colored stripes. Beautiful markings, and quite content on my kitchen cabinet. Appears to be a moth to me, but I could be mistaken. Plants in area: pine trees, typical Midwestern plants/trees. Weather: about 78 degrees F, clear skies.
