Diaphania hyalinata (Linnaeus, 1767)
Family: Crambidae
Subfamily: Pyraustinae
Identification: Wings pearly translucent white. Forewing has broad black costal border that continues on outer margins of all wings; black band also extends across thorax. Note anal tufts.
Wing Span: 2.7-3 cm.
Life History: A pest in Gulf states.
Flight: October-November northward; all months except February and December in Florida.
Caterpillar Hosts: Foliage of cucumber, melons, pumpkins, and squash.
