Identification: Wings dark orange; spots of forewing and shading of hindwing vary from pale to very dark purple.
Wing Span: 2.5-3.3 cm.
Life History:
Flight: July - September northward, August - October in Florida.
Caterpillar Hosts: Larva bores into seedpods of gerardia and mullein-foxglove.

NCGR: G4 - Apparently secure globally, though it might be quite rare in parts of its range, especially at the periphery.
